Key Workers (including military personnel)

Addison Park is a direct response to the local housing affordability crisis. It delivers a radical solution by offering genuinely “affordable” Affordable Housing to some of the Key Workers in and around St Albans to whom we owe so much. Whilst national and local Governments rightly focus on supporting the most vulnerable in society, Addison Park provides help and support to some of the most valuable… Local Homes for Local Heroes.

Who

The Government defines “essential local workers” as “public sector employees who provide frontline services in areas including health, education and community safety – such as NHS staff, teachers, police, firefighters and military personnel, social care and childcare workers”.

These are the Local Heroes for whom the Local Homes on Addison Park will be built.

What

Addison Park is a residential scheme of up to 330 dwellings, all of which will be discounted affordable homes exclusively available for local Key Workers. It also includes a Memorial Park, intended as a more peaceful complement to the Memorial in the busy centre of St Albans: a place where people can remember and reflect. See Our Layout for more details.

Where

Addison Park sits immediately to the west of the village of Chiswell Green in St Albans, some 3km south of St Albans City Centre, 2km north of J21a of the M25 and 350 metres west of The Three Hammers pub.

When

As quickly as possible! Outline Permission has been granted and we are now working on a “reserved matters” application, which involves creating detailed designs for the houses, the road layout, landscaping and drainage.

Why

In 2020, like millions of others, the owners of St Stephens Farm stood outside their house to applaud modern-day heroes fighting on the frontline of a battle against the Covid Pandemic. Frustrated that many of the NHS and other Key Workers they cheered can’t afford homes of their owns, they’ve decided to do something about it… Addison Park.
